Going Green At Hall Farm

The greener approach to holiday cottages

With our Geography teacher background, we are desperate to practice what we’ve spent the last decade learning and teaching; putting sustainable practice at the heart of our family and business life.  With this in mind, we intend to be Green Tourism certified before 2020 is out.

To enable us to keep stays here affordable and family-friendly, changes will be happening steadily, as and when our busy calendar allows. Below you will find a list of our short, medium and long-term plans, and we will be keeping those interested up to date on our Facebook page, Hall Farm Wetton.

Currently:
Sustainable practice before, during and after your stay
  • Paper-free booking;
  • Use of eco-friendly and recyclable cleaning, toiletry and laundry products (ecover)
  • Providing locally-sourced goods for welcome hamper (including eggs from our own hens) - details provided within the welcome hamper and our information packs
  • No single-use plastics to be used in preparing the cottages for your stay; including compostable or recyclable bin bags
  • Promoting walks and cycling from our doorstep
  • Careful recycling to reduce waste by guests.

To come:
  • Installing an electric charging point – for plug in hybrid and full electric vehicles. We have swapped one of our cars for a hybrid and will be swapping the other for full electric in the new year. We forsee increasing need for this facility amongst our guests too and will be happy to provide this service with prior arrangement.
